About a decade or so ago, The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops decided it was time to revisit and revise the scope
of effective youth ministry practices for Catholic youth groups. The result of this conference is the new and improved
" Eight Components of Effective Youth Ministry" which is a well-structured and highly followed framework for Catholic
Youth Ministry. The head of our youth ministry program, Bernadette, has received specialized training in this program
at the diocesan level, and has shared the components and foundations of the program with the members of our YM team.
We are committed to implementing these 8 components for the healthy and continual spiritual growth of our youth. If
you wish to purchase a copy of "Renewing the Vision: A framework for Catholic Youth Ministry", it is the publication
produced by the Catholic Bishop's Conference that describes in greater detail each component and its purpose. These
are available on the United Conference of Catholic Bishop's website, or can be ordered through our parish. The cost
is $6.00 per copy.
The 8 components we will be working to build and nurture in our program, following this protocol are:
Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice & Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care, &
Prayer and Worship.
